Pull "ARM: SoC specific updates" from Arnd Bergmann: "These changes are all specific to an soc family or the code for one soc. Lots of work for Tegra3 this time, but also a lot of other platforms. There will be another (smaller) set of soc patches later in the merge window for stuff that has dependencies on external trees or that was sent just before the merge window opened. The asoc tree added a few devices to the i.mx platform, which conflict with other devices added in the same place here. The tegra Makefile conflicts between a number of branches, mostly because of changes regarding localtimer.c, which was removed in the end. 2012-01-05ARM: restart: remove the now empty arch_reset()Russell King
Remove the now empty arch_reset() from all the mach/system.h includes, and remove its callsite. Remove arm_machine_restart() as this function no longer does anything useful. For samsung platforms, remove the include of mach/system-reset.h and plat/system-reset.h from their respective mach/system.h headers as these just define their arch_reset functions. As a result, the s3c2410 and plat-samsung system-reset.h files are no longer referenced, so remove these files entirely. Some platforms (like OMAP not to name it) are doing rather complicated hacks just to determine the base UART address to use. Let's give their addruart macro some slack by providing an extra work register which will allow for much needed cleanups. This is basically a no-op as this commit is only adding the extra argument to the macro but no one is using it yet. 2011-08-12ARM: gpio: make trivial GPIOLIB implementation the defaultRussell King
Rather than marking the mach/gpio.h header files which want to use the trivial GPIOLIB implementation, mark those which do not want to use it instead. This means that by default, you get the trivial implementation and only have to do something extra if you need to. This should encourage the use of the trivial default implementation. As an additional bonus, several gpio.h header files become empty. Many of the gpio_to_irq implementations use the gpiolib version of this function. Provide the standard gpiolib gpio_to_irq() for everyone, but allow platforms to override it if they wish. The patch makes necessary changes on gpio-mxs as below to turn it into an upstanding gpio driver. * Clean up the gpio port definition stuff * Use readl/writel to replace mach-specific accessors __raw_readl/__raw_writel * Change mxs_gpio_init into mxs_gpio_probe function And it then migrates mach-mxs to the updated driver by adding corresponding platform devices. To be able to relocate the .bss section at run time independently from the rest of the code, we must make sure that no GOTOFF relocations are used with .bss symbols. This usually means that no global variables can be marked static unless they're also const. Let's remove the static qualifier from current offenders, or turn them into const variables when possible. Next commit will ensure the build fails if one of those is reintroduced due to otherwise enforced coding standards for the kernel.
